Why he might be annoying:

    He dropped out of medical school after flunking exams in anatomy and surgery.
    He opposed legalizing the forward pass.
    Although officially unpaid as a coach, he controlled the Yale Financial Union, which a McClure's muckraker described as a '$100,000 slush fund.'

Why he might not be annoying:

    He worked his way up from salesman to president of the New Haven Clock Company.
    Football innovations he was credited with include the line of scrimmage, the system of downs, the snap from center, the 2-point safety, loss of yardage penalties, and standardizing team sizes at eleven men on a side.
    As an advisor to the US Army in WWI, he developed a 'daily dozen' exercise regime to improve the physical fitness of servicemen.
