Baseball Player

The Resume

Why he might be annoying:

His first two major league stints lasted no longer then three years.
During his tenure with the Astros, he watched his team blow a first place lead in the NL Central, which would eventually cost them a playoff spot (1996).
His tenure with the Angels ended abruptly when he was forced to resign with 29 games left in the season as a result of a player revolt in the clubhouse (1999).
He was considered way too uptight and had an edgy demeanor by his former players and baseball pundits alike.
His teams finished no higher than second place during the earlier stages of his major league managerial career.

Why he might not be annoying:

Despite the criticism he received about his demeanor, he admits he is a feisty and competitive manager.
He didn't record a losing season during his tenure with the Astros.
He managed the Chinese national baseball team at the World Baseball Classic (2009).
Despite not managing in the majors for over a decade, he didn't hesitate to accept the Mets managerial job offer.
He wears #10 in honor of his friend and mentor, Jim Leyland, whom he served as a coach under in Pittsburgh.
