The Resume

    (October 9, 1947-June 27, 2020)
Born in Jumping Branch, West Virginia
Birth name is Andrew Jackson Whittaker, Jr.
Won a record amount of money ($314.9 million) in the multi-state Powerball lottery (December 25, 2002)
Known more for the problems his windfall has caused than the actual cash and fame

Why he might be annoying:

Twice he's had large sums of money ($545,000 and $200,000) stolen from his vehicles.
He's been sued by several women who claim he has groped and fondled them while drunk.
Hanging around strip clubs and womanizing caused an estrangement in his 40+ year marriage.
He's been charged with two DUI's, including one where he wrecked his new Hummer.
In 2004, he was sued by the father of a boyfriend of his granddaughter who was found dead of a drug overdose on one of his properties.
Caesars Atlantic City casino sued him for bouncing $1.5 million worth of checks to cover gambling losses.
He's been harassed for money from hundreds of people, and threatened with violence from some he's turned away, lamenting, 'I don't know if life will ever be normal again.'

Why he might not be annoying:

He grew up poor, but worked hard and had a successful construction business before winning in Powerball.
Taking the payout in one lump sum, and after the lottery commission and U.S. government took their cuts, his windfall dwindled to a mere $113,386,407.77.
He took $14 million to establish the Jack Whittaker Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides food and clothing to low-income families in rural West Virginia.
He gave the woman who regularly sold him breakfast sandwiches at the gas station/convenience store where he bought his winning ticket a new house, Jeep, and $44,000 cash.
His beloved 17-year-old granddaughter Brandi (shown left in photo) died of a drug overdose in December 2004, her body wrapped in a plastic tarp and abandoned.
His only child, daughter Ginger Whittaker Bragg, died in 2009 at age 42.
