    Formed in The Hague, Netherlands
    1970 line-up:
    Mariska Veres - lead vocals
Robbie van Leeuwen - guitar, vocals
Klaasje van der Wal - bass
Cornelius van der Beek - drums
    Recorded 'Venus'
van der Beek died in 1998 at age 53
Veres died of cancer in 2006 at age 59
They are a one hit wonder.
Their male lead singer was replaced by Veres after one year.
Yet another group that put out a greatest hits album with only one legit hit.
Veres' solo career didn't pan out. She toured the oldies circuit in the 1990's under the Shocking Blue name without any original band members.
'Venus' hit #1 in 1970 on Billboard's U.S Singles chart.
Bananarama's cover of 'Venus' went to #1 in 1986.
A song they recorded that didn't chart, 'Love Buzz,' was covered by Nirvana on a 7 inch vinyl single and is now a collectable worth over $1,000.
'Venus' was remixed by dance producers The BHF and hit the Top 10 in the U.K. and Australia in 1990, 21 years after first recorded.
