TV Personality
    (August 12, 1932-November 1, 2010)
    Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Best known as the announcer for Wheel of Fortune (1975-80,1988-2010)
Also served as an announcer for 'The Joker's Wild,' 'Tic-Tac-Dough,' 'The $100,000 Pyramid,' 'The Family Feud,' 'The Dating Game,' 'The Gong Show,' 'To Tell The Truth' and 'Card Sharks'
Was also Dick Clark's sidekick/announcer on American Bandstand
In almost all of his 'acting' credits in the IMDb, he portrayed (surpirse!) an announcer.
He really stretched out 'Wheeeeel' when introducing 'Wheel of Fortune.'
Pat Sajak noted, 'I used to tease him about his little affectations. He would pronounce deluxe as ‘deloox’ and patio as ‘pawtio.''
In addition to game shows, he was the announcer for several Oscar, Emmy and Golden Globe telecasts, for the Beatles shows at the Hollywood Bowl and Dodger Stadium (1965-66) and for a nationwide teleconference from the Universal Amphitheater by Pope John Paul II (1987).
His baritone alternated expertly between booming and smooth.
Sajak said, 'He had genuine enthusiasm. Every time he announced that someone had won the money, it sounded like he had won it.'
