    (May 30, 1814-July 1, 1876)
    Born in Pryamukhino, Russian Federation
Member of the International Working Men's Association
Wrote 'Statism and Anarchy' (1873) and 'God and the State' (published posthumously, 1882)
He simultaneously called for the overthrow of the Russian government and the expansion of the Russian empire to the Pacific coast.
He wrote that Jews are 'an exploiting sect, a people of bloodsuckers, one voracious parasite.'
His declaration 'the passion for destruction is a creative passion' and call for 'propaganda of the deed' inspired bombings, assassinations and other violence.
As a result of his outspoken beliefs, his property was seized, he was imprisoned and he was exiled to Siberia.
He lost all his teeth to scurvy as a result of his prison diet.
He criticized Karl Marx's 'dictatorship of the proletariat,' commenting 'If you took the most ardent revolutionary, vested him in absolute power, within a year he would be worse than the Tsar himself.'
