    His defense to the point-shaving charges was, 'I was too selfish a basketball player to ever play less than my best.'

    Kentucky coach Adolph Rupp said, 'Ralph was as near to a perfect basketball player as there's ever been.'
    He was member of the gold medal winning US Olympic team (1948).
    He was named to the first ever NBA All-Star team (1951).
