He is the highest drafted player in NBA history to be assigned to the NBA Development League.

He played for three different teams during the 2012 calendar year.
He anglicized the spelling of his name from Hashim Thabit.

At 7'3, he is the tallest player to play for the University of Connecticut basketball team.
He was recruited from his homeland to play at UConn, despite the fact he never spoke a word of English.
As of 2012, he was the highest drafted player in the history of the Grizzlies, since the franchise relocated from Vancouver.
He earned Big East Co-Player of the Year honors in his final season at UConn.
