    That hit wasn't exactly a model of feminism. ('I want a brave man/I want a cave man!')
    She was named 'most promising female vocalist' by Cashbox magazine (1962).
    TIme magazine said she is 'admired by both rock 'n' rollers... as well as by those who pant for Ella and Frankie.'
    She recorded a critically acclaimed album, 'Softly, The Brazilian Sound,' with bossa nova guitarist Laurindo Almeida (1965).
