The Resume

    (September 17, 1960- )
    Born in Erie, Pennsylvania
Senior executive producer and political editor for C-Span
Co-hosts the morning call-in show ‘Washington Journal’ and the podcast ‘The Weekly’
President of the White House Correspondents Association (2006-07)
Scheduled to moderate the second 2020 Presidential debate, which was cancelled when President Donald Trump refused to accept a virtual format

Why he might be annoying:

He had been an intern for then-Senator Joe Biden, prompting questions about how impartial a debate moderator he would be.
He explained that an exchange of messages with Trump employee turned Trump critic Anthony Scaramucci was the result of his Twitter account being hacked.
He was suspended indefinitely from C-SPAN after admitting he had lied about his account being hacked.
In an ironic bit of timing, his suspension was announced on the day that he would have moderated the second debate (October 15, 2020).
He had blamed hackers for tweets from his account in 2012 and 2013 as well.

Why he might not be annoying:

He chose journalism over law as a college major.
Two of his children died in infancy.
He serves on the board of St. Jude’s Children Hospital and two charities raising money for research into sudden infant death syndrome.
On ‘Washington Journal,’ he remained remarkably unflappable through any number of odd questions and rants from callers.
John Oliver called him ‘the most patient man on television.’
He received the Fitzwater Center for Communications Award for exemplary journalism and public service (2009).
Illustrating the adage that it’s the coverup, not the crime, that gets you in trouble, his actual tweet to Scaramucci (‘should I respond to Trump’) was fairly innocuous.
