They write whiny lyrics that appeal to depressed teens.

They also made a plea that buying their album saves rock and roll.
Despite all of their begging, they were beaten by Ne-Yo.
Their video for ‘Niki FM' was a takeoff of the famous boom box scene from the movie ‘Say Anything.'

Why he might not be annoying:

The ‘Hawthorne’ part of their name is in reference to author
Nathaniel Hawthorne.
The band’s original name was ‘A Day in the Life,’ which came from the classic Beatle song.
They are fans of the The Beatles and Led Zeppelin.
