    Published the collections 'Poems' (1893), 'Sister Songs' (1895) and 'New Poems' (1897)
    Best known poem was 'The Hound of Heaven'

Why he might be annoying:

    He studied to be a physician but failed the medical exams three times.
    He was addicted to opium.
    He lived as a vagrant on the streets of London for three years (1885-88).
    He contemplated suicide before being dissuaded by a vision of fellow poet Thomas Chatterton.
    He has been accused of being Jack the Ripper, possibly acting out his short story 'Finis Coronat Opus' ('The End Crowns the Work'), which featured a young poet sacrificing women to pagan gods.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He was left-handed.
    His poems influenced J.R.R. Tolkien.
    'The Hound of Heaven' was so popular it sold 50,000 copies in a year.
