Why they might be annoying
They blamed their woes on Billy 'Goat' Sianis and his goat. The story says that Billy and his goat were not allowed to enter Wrigley Field the day of the 4th game in the 1945 World Series, even though he had been allowed, in the past, to bring his goat with him. At the time, the Cubs were favored to win the championship after winning 2 out of three against the Detroit Tigers in Detroit. As he was leaving Wrigley, he supposedly raised both hands and said: 'There will never be another World Series played in Wrigley Field.'
At least Boston had the Curse of the Bambino to blame for their drought, the Cubs have nothing to blame but themselves!
They're known as the 'lovable losers.'
They play many day games, giving kids who are thinking about skipping school a reason to do so.
Because of the wind, Wrigley Field is an easy ball park to hit a home run in.
Since the death of Harry Cary, the seventh-inning stretch song has been pimped out to just about any two-bit celebrity that wants some publicity.
Wrigley Field's outfield wall is made up of brick with some ivy to pad it.
They spent a good part of the 2002-03 season trying to acquire a good third baseman after allowing American League batting champ Bill Mueller to leave for Boston.
The team is named after a baby bear.
Three times Sammy Sosa hit more than 60 home runs and failed to lead the league. Sosa was caught using an illegal bat during the 2003 season.
Why they might not be annoying
They won back to back World Series' (1907-08).
They have a great rivalry with the St. Louis Cardinals, which has been referred to as the 'I-55 Series.'
Harry Caray was their announcer for many years.
Ernie Banks was nicknamed 'Mr. Cub.'
They're nationally televised on WGN.
They were questioned when the only major 2002-03 off-season move they made was acquiring manager Dusty Baker, but since then he has lead them to winning the National League Central division and to the NLCS.
They have some of the most loyal fans in all of sports.
