    He incessantly complained about government, yet, donated tens of millions of dollars to political causes.
    He sparred with fellow billionaire T. Boone Pickens over natural gas legislation supported by Pickens.
    After decades of arguing for the elimination of Social Security, he reportedly encouraged a colleague to take advantage of the Social Security benefits he'd earned.
    He opposed the regulation of greenhouse gases.
    Though not admitting to any involvement with the Tea Party, his donations aided many groups and causes supported by the Tea Party.
