    He was considered a weak link in the Yankees' batting line-up.
    He twice led the AL in strikeouts.
    He was suspended the first 30 days of the 1943 season and fined $250 for shoving an ump during the 1942 World Series.
    During an argument with Jim Bouton, he started throwing punches at Bouton.
    He was considered a master of old-school baseball tactics, like the hidden ball trick and sign stealing.
    He twice led AL shortstops in double plays (1938-39).
    As a player and coach, he won a record 17 World Series.
    As a coach, even as he approached his 60th birthday, he could work out as long and hard as the players.
    He was married to Norma Crosetti for 63 years.
