Best known for their 1976 hit ‘Play That Funky Music'
The name ‘Wild Cherry' came from a flavor of cough drops.
They never matched the success of their only hit, ‘Play That Funky Music.'
Vanilla Ice covered ‘Play That Funky Music' and did not credit any members of the band for the song.
They changed their music style to fit in with the disco trend.
They didn't have success until they added some disco influence to their songs.
Their hit song was inspired when someone yelled out during a concert, ‘Hey, play some funky music, white boy!'
    Their self-titled debut went platinum.
‘Play That Funky Music' went number one on both Billboard's pop and R&B charts.
Billboard even named them the best pop group of the year for 1976.
Rob sued Vanilla Ice for not giving them credit for ‘Play That Funky Music' and won a big settlement from Vanilla Ice.
