Politician

The Resume

    (August 23, 1985- )
    Born in Santa Monica, California
    Republican
    Policy adviser, speechwriter
    Graduated from Duke University (2007)
Served as Press Secretary to Republican U.S. Representatives Michele Bachmann and John Shadegg
Served as communications director for then-Senator Jeff Sessions (2009-16)
Appointed national policy director for President-elect Trump's transition team
Named Senior Adviser to the President for Policy (Dec. 13, 2016)

Why he might be annoying:

He has a long history of collaborating with Stephen Bannon.
His press conferences have been accompanied by memes noting his physical resemblance to Pee Wee Herman, Sheldon Cooper from The Big Bang Theory, and Roberto Benigni as Pinocchio.
He started out as the warm-up guy at Trump rallies (so, hey he was the Ray Combs of the Trump campaign!)
He was the brains behind some of the Trump White House's immigration executive orders, including the controversial 'Muslim Travel Ban.'
His fast rise within the Trump ranks also drew increased scrutiny of some of his college writings, in which he accused Maya Angelou of ‘racial paranoia’ and called Duke University ‘obsessed with multiculturalism (a.k.a. segregation).’
He was a college classmate of white nationalist Richard Spencer, who openly professed to having been 'his mentor' during their time with the Duke Conservative Union (Miller predictably denied having had any meaningful contact).
He came under fire after a spot on Face the Nation, in which he criticized the federal courts for blocking President Trump's travel ban, and declaring 'Our opponents, the media and the whole world will soon see as we begin to take further actions, that the powers of the president to protect our country are very substantial and will not be questioned' (Feb. 14, 2017).
He got into a heated exchange with CNN’s Jim Acosta during a presser over immigration policy which went viral, during which time he called the reporter's statements 'outrageous,' 'ignorant,' 'insulting,' and 'foolish' (Aug. 2017).

Why he might not be annoying:

He granted renewed relevance to Pauly Shore.
He is descended from immigrants on his mother's side, who fled pogroms in Antopol (Belarus) in the early 1900s.
He credits his evolving into a conservative to his reading the writings of David Horowitz, Wayne LaPierre and Charlton Heston.
Charges of his being an anti-Semite Nazi supporter come off as particularly tasteless given his familial Jewish heritage.
Richard Spencer himself admitted that he doubted Miller was either a 'white nationalist' or 'part of the Alt-Right.'
He first came to national attention defending the members of the Duke Lacrosse team falsely accused of rape (2006).
He was crucial to helping Jeff Sessions defeat the Gang of Eight’s 2013 Immigration Reform Bill, passage of which many had believed was inevitable.
He worked on Dave Brat's successful 2014 House campaign to unseat Eric Cantor.
He fast became President Trump's favorite speechwriter due to his knack at melding the man's distinctive voice/persona with actual policy (he penned Trump's RNC Acceptance Speech, his 'American Carnage' Inauguration speech, and - most likely - his infamous Boy Scouts of America speech).
His takedown of Acosta was widely praised in Right-leaning circles as an example of effective political debate (basically turning the argument on its head and pointing Acosta's accusations of racism right back at him).
