Why he might be annoying:

Rolling Stone magazine publisher Jann Wenner got him a record deal, but he was cut after one album.
Bluesman Fenton Robinson successfully sued him to get composer credit for the 1968 song 'Loan Me a Dime.'
Between 1968-1974, he cut four critically acclaimed albums and all four were met with dismal sales.
He divorced his wife Carmella after nine years of marriage and two sons.
His ex spelled her last name with a 'k' - Skaggs.

He met Steve Miller in 1959 and played on and off with him for the next nine years.
He attended the University of Wisconsin with Miller.
His 1976 breakthrough album 'Silk Degrees' featured Top 10 hits 'Lowdown' and 'Lido Shuffle' and helped popularize the 'blue-eyed soul' sound.
'Lowdown' has been sampled by several rap artists.
His son, Oscar, died of a drug overdose in San Francisco (December 31, 1998).
