Why they might be annoying:

They had to cancel their planned debut performance when their bassist and drummer quit and Shelley and Devoto could not find replacements quickly enough.
Their debut single, 'Orgasm Addict' was banned by the BBC (1977).
Their best-known song, 'Ever Fallen in Love' was inspired by the musical 'Guys and Dolls.' (How unpunk!)
They are reportedly ticked off that their name has become more associated with the comedy/game show 'Never Mind the Buzzcocks' than their band.

Why they might not be annoying:

They made their debut appearance opening for the Sex Pistols.
Their EP 'Spiral Scratch' was the first self-released British punk record (1977) and inspired the formation of dozens of DIY record labels.
They combined pop craftsmanship with punk energy.
They quoted William S. Burroughs in their song 'A Different Kind of Tension.'
They were the opening act on Nirvana's last European tour (1994).
