The Resume

Born in New York City, New York
    Josh Safdie (April 3, 1984- )
    Benny Safdie (February 24, 1988- )
Together directed the films ‘Daddy Longlegs’ (2009), ‘Lenny Cooke’ (2013), ‘Heaven Knows What’ (2014), ‘Good Time’ (2017), and ‘Uncut Gems’ (2019)
Solo Josh directed ‘The Pleasure of Being Robbed’ (2008)

Why they might be annoying:

Benny wanted to be a physicist before going into films.
Josh refuses to wear a watch because ‘I’m so petrified of time and being reminded of time.’
’The Pleasure of Being Robbed’ started as a commercial for Kate Spade handbags before evolving into a film.
For their early movies, they would shoot on public streets without filming permits.
Their frequent collaborator Ronald Bronstein described the working relationship of the three as ‘one sustained argument.’

Why they might not be annoying:

NPR noted their ‘obvious affection for New York and its denizens.’
They like to cast experienced actors alongside first-timers: ‘When Adam [Sandler] goes into that jewelry store and talks to two real jewelers, they’re not used to being on camera. But he’s not used to being in jewelry stores.’
At the Independent Spirit Awards, they won the John Cassavetes Award (given to the best film budgeted under $500,000) for ‘Daddy Longlegs’ and Best Director for ‘Uncut Gems.’
With ‘Good Time’ and ‘Uncut Gems,’ they demonstrated that Robert Pattinson and Adam Sandler really can act.
