Spy
    (May 11, 1915-August 16, 1993)
Autobiography is ‘I Led Three Lives: Citizen, Communist, Counterspy (1950s)’
Narrator and technical consultant of ‘I Led Three Lives’ (portrayed by Richard Carlson)
Encouraged by the Federal Bureau of Investigation to infiltrate the stateside Communist party throughout the 1940s
    Baptist youth leader
New Hampshire delegate for Barry Goldwater (1964)
Having graduated the Lincoln Technical Institute at Northeastern University, he became a sales rep for a direct mail company.
When he joined the Massachusetts Youth Council in the 1940s, he had no clue it was anything but a peace group.
While he was with the Communists, they went from being vehemently anti-war to enthusiastically loyal supporters of the war effort (it worked out).
Despite his technical involvement, the series was so outlandish as it went that it depicted very little of any of his ‘lives’ (publisher, spy, and family man).
Throughout the rest of his life, he viewed current events in the manner he viewed the Communist complot.
For an anti-Communist activist, he became a high-level member of the New England Commie chapter (probably the point).
His activities came to light in the 1940s, when his testimonies played a role in the arraignment of about a dozen U.S. Communist Party leaders — and their own attorneys.
He was honored by the state governor with his own State Day (November 27, 1951).
You probably wouldn’t want your most sensitive real-life activities to become fodder for a prime-time series (which got one J. Edgar’s personal seal of approval), either.
He had six children by his first wife and one more by his second.
In his later years, he served as a lecturer on the Communist threat and as a court reporter for the New Hampshire press.
