    Developed War Victory Comics for the government during World War II
    His characters tend to have one-note obsessions. (Little Dot loves dots. Richie Rich loves money, Little Lotta loves food.....)
    His pocket-sized comic digests encouraged children to shoplift them.
    Harvey Comics never became critically acclaimed and was seen strictly as kid stuff.
    His characters promoted Hostess Twinkies and other unhealthy snacks.
    He deliberately avoided edgy material such as horror and focused on family-friendly fare.
    He became the youngest Eagle scout in the United States at 13.
    He graduated from high school at 15.
    He helped his family out during the Depression by drawing cartoons for ads.
    Little Audrey was one of the first comic book characters marketed to girls.
    When working as a scoutmaster, he learned sign language to communicate with a deaf boy scout.
    Critical acclaim or not, his characters were loved by children for decades.
