    He started out as a Calypso nightclub singer but sidelined the career to write songs for Harry Belafonte.

    He was Inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2007.
    'Day-O' secured a major comeback after it was featured in the hit movie 'Beetlejuice.'
