    Recorded 'Everybody Plays the Fool' and 'Just Don't Want to Be Lonely'
    They are a two hit wonder.
    Between 1964-66 they changed their name three times, from The Poets to The Insiders to The Main Ingredient.
    Their follow-up album after their smash 'Everybody Plays The Fool' featured six songs written by Stevie Wonder, yet produced no hits.
    They've disbanded and reformed several times with various line-up changes.
    Original lead vocalist Donald McPherson died of leukemia in 1971 and was replaced by Gooding.
    'Everybody Plays the Fool' (1972) and 'Just Don't Want to Be Lonely' (1974) were both million selling singles and reached the Top 5 and Top 10 respectively on Billboard's Singles chart.
    Aaron Neville covered 'Everybody Plays the Fool' in 1991 and took it to #8 on the singles chart.
    Gooding is the father of Hollywood actor Cuba Gooding, Jr.
