The Resume

    (1950- )
Located in the northwest region of northern Manitoba near the Saskatchewan border

Why Lynn Lake, Manitoba might be annoying:

Driving here is extremely difficult as you have to be extremely cautious of wildlife, along with the isolated nature of the commute (especially coming into the community from Thompson).
Its establishment came at the expense of the neighbouring town of Sherridon.
They essentially uprooted the community’s structures and moved them north to the present-day location.
Its economy predominantly relied on both gold and ore mining, prior to the collapse of the industry.
It has harshly cold winters and extremely short summers.
Due to its remote location, it is a 13 hour drive to get here from the provincial capital of Winnipeg.
It experienced a rapid population decline in the years after the mining industry fell.

Why Lynn Lake, Manitoba might not be annoying:

It was the site of one of the region’s largest nickel strikes, which prompted the community’s establishment.
It was a hub for gold mining activity during the second half of the 20th century.
It is an oasis for outdoorsmen, as it is home to some great hunting and fishing sites.
It was the birthplace of Canadian rock legend Tom Cochrane.
In recognition of Cochrane’s birth in the town, the highway leading here from Thompson was renamed ‘Tom Cochrane’s Life Is A Highway’ to honor the 25th anniversary of the latter’s ’Mad Mad World’ album (2016).
