Why he might be annoying:

    He was drafted into the Army during the Korean War, but was discharged as a 'national security risk' because of his left-wing activities in college.
    He has incorrectly been pinned as the sole author of Dr. King's 'I Have a Dream Speech.'
    He defended Glenn Beck's Rally to Restore Honor, in 2010, claiming that Dr. King would have been 'pleased and honored' by it, rather than offended.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He was raised in a foster home.
    He was a talented speechwriter who worked closely with King to the end of his life.
    He was one of the negotiators during the 1971 prison riot at Attica.
    He was the first African-American to be named an allied member of the New York Stock Exchange.
    He first came into contact with King when he joined the legal team successfully defending him from tax fraud charges.
    He assisted in drafting the first portion of the 'I Have a Dream' speech.
    He distributed King's famous 'Letter from a Birmingham Jail' after the handwritten notes were slipped to him during a visit.
    When he applied to pass the New York Bar, in 1962, Dr. King wrote him a letter of recommendation 'a man of sound judgment, deep insights, and great dedication [and] great integrity.'
