She eloped with Jack McCain and got married in a bar in Tijuana.
She has gotten a lot of speeding tickets, including one for driving 112 mph in Arizona.
The McCain campaign kept bringing her out anytime someone suggested McCain might be too old for the presidency.
She said of Mitt Romney, 'As far as the Salt Lake City [Olympics], he's a Mormon and the Mormons of Salt Lake City had caused that scandal.'
During the Republican National Convention, she was banned from talking to the press due to her tendency to go off-script.

Why she might not be annoying:

She stoically endured her son being a POW for five years, commenting 'When an accident happens, you can't bellyache. You chose the profession.'
After hearing that McCain had shouted obscenities at his captors, she said, 'Johnny, I'm going to come over there and wash your mouth out with soap.'
The Washington Post dubbed her 'The Even Straighter Talk Express.'
She said the McCain campaign's 'celebrity' ad comparing Barack Obama to Paris Hilton was 'kinda stupid.'
John McCain said, 'I am grateful to her for the strengths she taught me by example.'
