Their original nickname was a lame attempt to win over Utah Jazz fans.
Their current name is a mouthful.
In their first decade, they mostly stunk it up while their NBA counterparts were title contenders.
They built plenty of momentum in Utah, then killed it when they relocated to San Antonio.

Why they might not be annoying:

They are among the WNBA's charter franchises.
Their original name was an homage to the old ABA team, the Utah Stars.
They made the conference finals their last year in Utah.
They cleverly altered their name to make it more relate to San Antonio's tradition (as well as delete that pesky 'zz').
