Why he might be annoying:

He wore bow ties and thick eyeglasses.
He was a failed film director.
Although he created some popular shows, almost none of the television he produced himself is memorable.
Some say he didn’t have any real talent, but simply put talented people together.
When ‘Doctor Who’s’ ratings suffered in the 1980’s, he suggested turning the Doctor into a woman.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was considered one of the most powerful men in British television in the 1960’s.
One critic said he personally transformed TV into its own art form.
He created ‘Doctor Who’ and ‘The Avengers,’ two great British cult series.
He gave the job of producing ‘Doctor Who’ to a young woman, Verity Lambert, which was quite unusual for the time.
The show became the longest-running sci-fi program in history.
He was one of the first TV producers to make shows about (and for) middle and lower-class audiences.
He said: ‘Damn the upper classes! They don’t even own televisions!’
