The Resume

    (1973-1982)
    Born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada
    Progressive-rock trio
John Woloschuk, bass guitar and keyboards
    Dee Long, guitar and vocals
    Terry Draper, drums
Recorded the albums '3:47 EST' (released as 'Klaatu' in the US, 1976), 'Hope' (1977), 'Sir Army Suit' (1978), 'Endangered Species' (1980) and 'Magentalane' (1981)
Songs inlcude 'Sub Rosa Subway' and 'Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft (The Recognized Anthem of World Contact Day)'

Why they might be annoying:

Their first three albums did not include photos or names of the band members.
Their anonymity inspired a rumor that the band was really the re-united Beatles.
Some of the 'evidence' that they were the Beatles was really stretching it. (Example: There are eight trees on the cover of their debut album, but only seven have their roots showing. 'Beatles' has seven letters. Coincidence?)
The 'Klaatu = Beatles' rumor was dubbed 'Hype of the Year' by Rolling Stone magazine.
They hid Morse code messages in the background of some of their songs.
Their best-known song, 'Calling Occupants...,' became a bigger hit for the Carpenters than themselves.

Why they might not be annoying:

The band claimed to have avoided publicity because 'they want to be known for their music, not for who they are.'
Judging from the mugs in their profile pic, they had other good reasons for not including a band photo on their albums.
On some songs, such as 'Sub Rosa Subway,' the vocals do sound uncannily like John and Paul.
Dee Long became a successful music engineer, working with George Martin on several albums, including ones by Paul McCartney.
When Long mentioned the rumors to McCartney, the ex-Beatle found it very amusing.
