    Physician and humanitarian
    Founded Pastoral da Crianca, an organization dedicated to lowering infant mortality in Brazil in 1983
    Killed during the Haitian earthquake of 2010
    Pastoral da Crianca taught inexperienced mothers about the importance of breastfeeding and vaccinations and how to combat diarrhea (a leading cause of infant deaths in the third world) with proper hydration
    She did little to address the root causes of poverty.
    She lost the 2006 Nobel Peace Prize to Muhammad Yunus, a banker.
    She kept dying her hair long after it was fooling anyone.
    Her program/system was a staggering success, in areas it reached, infant mortality was reduced to 11 children per 1,000 versus Brazil's overall rate of 22.5 per 1,000.
    She lost her first child at three days of age, another child to an auto accident, and her husband died trying to save a child from drowning.
    Inspired by her physician father, she spent her fifty year career as a doctor helping the poor.
    Knowing that the poor of Brazil distrusted the government, she acted as a private citizen.
    She avoided any type of personal publicity.
    She was killed in Haiti by an earthquake while trying to install her program there.
    When Pat Robertson said that the Haitian earthquake of 2010 was God's judgment against Haiti, does he think God meant to kill her too?
