He divorced his wife of over 30 years.
Some critics called his books crude, clumsy, and blatantly patriotic.
He often depicted Africans, Asians, and other cultures in villainous roles.
He was rejected from West Point after flunking the entrance exam.
He wrote over seventy novels, but his Tarzan work overshadowed them all.
He tried to milk as much money from Tarzan as he possibly could.
His story ‘The Land That Time Forgot' was adapted into an awful 1975 movie.
He named his ranch ‘Tarzana.'
Why he might not be annoying
He briefly attended Harvard.
Before Tarzan, he fought to stay above the poverty line.
He worked as a news correspondent during World War II despite being well into his 60s.
Some of his westerns showed sympathy toward Native Americans.
His work inspired Arthur Clarke and Ray Bradbury.
He died after reading a comic book.
A crater on Mars is named after him.
