Why they might be annoying:

They regretted splitting from 10cc, saying they should have stayed with the group while releasing occasional side projects.
Their manager said about their first album, ‘They were brilliant, innovative – and what did they do? A triple album that goes on forever and became a disaster.’
They were one-hit wonders in the US, with ‘Cry’ their only song to make the Billboard Top 40.
The video they directed for Duran Duran’s ‘Girls on Film’ was banned by the BBC and MTV until they edited out some of the more blatantly sexual content.

Why they might not be annoying:

They directed some of the most memorable videos of MTV’s early years.
They received the Video Vanguard Award at the 2nd MTV Music Video Awards (1985).
Godley said of their approach to directing videos, ‘We rarely do a literal video or tell a story. Instead we try to give each song an atmosphere without destroying any images you may have already for yourself.’
