    Finished fifth at the 2010 Miss Universe Pageant
    Judge #2 William Baldwin’s question: ‘What was the one big mistake that you did in your life? And what did you do to make it right?’
    Her answer: ‘You know what, Sir, in my 22 years of existence I can say there is nothing major major, I mean, problem that I have done in my life. Because I am very confident with my family, with the love that they are giving to me. So, thank you so much that I am here, thank you, thank you so much.’

Why she might be annoying:

    She was born out of wedlock.
    Registered by an aunt to a Roman-Catholic family as being a native Filipina, she was initially stripped of her Binbining Pilipinas Universe title over accounts of her birth. (So much for protection from embarrassment.)
    The crown was subsequently reinstated when it was learned its new recipient wasn’t legal.
    She attributes her runway walking skills to… a rice paddy dike.
    Her answer to Baldwin’s question overshadowed the coronation of winner Jimena Navarrete (shades of the Teegarden–Upton saga!).
    She is a fan of America’s Next Top Model.
    Despite having a major, she demonstrated no interest in going into journalism.

Why she might not be annoying:

    She stood five foot nine.
    She was the youngest of five children, to a father from India – whom she said she never knew – and a mother from the Philippines.
    She spent her formative years living in a wood and bamboo (nipa) hut.
    She began her pageant drive only at 17.
    Her income from major contest victories went into creating better living conditions for her family.
    She harbored no ill will toward the pageant organizers who held out on her crown for nearly two weeks.
