The Resume

    (March 26, 1950- )
    Born in Fountain Head, Tennessee
Recorded the singles ‘The King Is Gone’ (1977), ‘Older Women’ (1981) and ‘You’re Gonna Ruin My Bad Reputation’ (1983)

Why he might be annoying:

His Elvis tribute ‘The King Is Gone’ was his only hit on the pop charts.
To pay for recording a demo of ‘The King Is Gone,’ he wrote the studio a check that bounced.
After the success of ‘The King Is Gone,’ he said, ‘I was losing my identity. I wanted to sound like myself, but everyone else wanted to hear another Elvis.’
Despite that complaint, he would imitate Elvis’ voice for the TV movies ‘Elvis’ (1978) and ‘Elvis and the Beauty Queen’ (1981), the miniseries ‘Elvis and Me’ (1988) and the TV series ‘Elvis’ (1990).
He also started a sideline of selling his paintings, mostly of – who else? – Elvis.

Why he might not be annoying:

Elvis producer Felton Jarvis once told him, ‘Lord, son, I only wish Elvis had been able to sing that good.’
No record labels were interested in releasing ‘The King Is Gone’ until he sent copies of his demo record to Nashville radio stations and the request lines lit up.
’The King Is Gone’ was a Top 20 hit on both the pop and country charts and sold three million singles.
He has had over thirty singles make the country chart, including two #1 hits.
