    Juvenile Delinquent, Convicted Murderer
    Convicted of murder (2000)
Conviction overturned, new trial ordered (2003)
Found guilty on (April 12, 2005)
She was convicted of second degree murder at the age of 17 for her part in the beating death of Reena Virk (2000).
She was fifteen at the time of the alleged killing.
The killing may have been racially motivated (Reena Virk was Indo-Canadian).
Witnesses say that she calmly smoked a cigarette while holding Reena Virk's face underwater.
The severity of her crimes led to her being raised to adult court.
Her conviction was overturned as the courts ruled that the trial was unfair. She awaits a second trial.
The overturning of her conviction is a testament to the failure of the justice system.
She found herself in trouble again when she was charged with assault (2004).
Her retrial ended in a mis-trial (July 2004).
Her actions drew more attention to the problem of bullying and violence among youth.
