As a session musician in New Orleans, he played sax on records by Fats Domino, Irma Thomas, Huey ‘Piano’ Smith, and Professor Longhair
His big hit was inspired when he played at a concert where the girls in the audience took off their shoes to dance.
‘Barefootin’’ was a top ten hit on both the pop and R&B charts and sold over a million singles.
