Why he might be annoying:

    His athletic career ended after he tore his ACL in high school.
    He resigned from his position as the Commissioner of the CFL due to philosophical differences.
    He sparked a controversy when he stated there was no scientific proof between concussions and degenerative problems at a time when former CFL players were filing a lawsuit against the league for CTE issues.
    He refused to double down on his views when he got called out by the media, who felt they came off as being tone deaf to the issue.
    It was speculated that his resignation was brought on due to both his ignorance on the CTE issue and his lack of vision for the league.

    He comes from a blue collar background as a son of a nurse and a NYC transit worker.
    He initially began his career as a lawyer, before working in the executive ranks.
    He is the first African-American to preside as a commissioner of a North American professional sports league.
    He presided over both the Grey Cup championships where Edmonton won their last championship under the Eskimos moniker (2015) and Ottawa ending a 40 year Grey Cup championship drought (2016).
    He takes pride in his status of being a trailblazer as the first commissioner of color to preside over a North American sports league.
