Why he might be annoying
'Born to Roll' was the only one of his songs to crossover to the pop Top 40.
He kept releasing albums in which he hinted that he is going to retire, but never followed through.
He had to change the cover of 'Arts & Entertainment' when the A&E cable network complained that the album featured a logo too similar to theirs.
Why he might not be annoying
He got his big break by winning a rap contest in which first prize was six hours in the studio with producer Marley Marl.
He said, 'Much of the current 'staying real' talk in hip-hop has to do with rapping about such negative things as blunts, 40s, and guns. That's not for me.'
Eminem cited him as an influence, saying 'Masta Ace had amazing storytelling skills – his thoughts were so vivid.'
