Actress
    (April 1, 1897-February 17, 1961)
Born in New York City, New York
Birth name is Anita Donna Dooley
Acted in 'Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1920),' 'Blood and Sand (1922),' 'The Ten Commandments (1923),' 'Cobra (1925),' 'The Mountain Eagle (1926)' and 'Pratermizzi (1927)'
Like nearly every other sultry actress of the 1920's, she was nicknamed 'The Female Valentino.'
Her over-the-top acting can seem ludicrous to modern audiences.
She changed her Irish surname because she felt it was not 'exotic' enough.
Her press agent claimed she was related to Beatrice from Dante's Divine Comedy.
She embarrassed her friends by swearing and telling off color stories in public.
She said, 'Be nice to a man, and he's as good as gone.'
She was discovered by John Barrymore when still a showgirl.
She was disliked by many female moviegoers because she often played husband stealers.
In real life she was down to earth and humorous, the opposite of her vamp persona.
    She was an avid reader.
In her later years, she lived on charity from the Actors Fund.
She died alone in a hotel, with no known relatives.
