Why he might be annoying
When he was 11, he yelled, 'All press, piss off' during a royal family photo shoot.
His party hearty ways as a student got him nicknamed Prince Pils and the Lager Prince.
He drove his car into a canal (1988).
He was rumored to have nixed the regnal title Willem IV because 'vier' (four) rhymes with 'bier' (beer), making the temptation of following Prince Pils with Willem Bier too great for the tabloids to resist.
The Dutch crown includes fake pearls made from fish scales. (Granted, that's not really Willem's fault, but after reading that factoid I had to include it somewhere.)
Why he might not be annoying
While attending the College of the Atlantic in Wales, he joined the student-crewed lifeboat service.
He worked as a pilot for the Kenya Wildlife Service.
He regularly pilots the Dutch royal airplane when travelling abroad to make sure he gets enough flying hours to maintain his license.
He ran in the New York City Marathon and took part in the Frisian Eleven Cities ice skating marathon.
He declared his intention of being a '21st century king' and not a 'protocol fetishist.'
