Politician

The Resume

    (July 11, 1972- )
    Born in Caracas, Venezuela
    Venezuelan politician and lawyer
Birth name is Henrique Capriles Radonski
Member of the Primero Justicia (Justice First) Party since 2000
Served as Vice president of the Congress of the Republic of Venezuela (1999)
Served as Mayor of Baruta, Venezuela (30 July 2000–26 November 2008)
Elected Governor of Miranda (November 29, 2008)
Ran for President of Venezuela against incumbent Hugo Chavez (2012)
Ran a second time in the special election, following Chavez's sudden death, narrowly being defeated by Nicolas Maduro (2013)
Slogan was 'Hay un camino' ('There is a way')

Why he might be annoying:

    He was a tax lawyer.
He is rarely seen without his trademark Venezuela baseball cap.
He has been attacked as 'a fresh face for Venezuela's old elite.'
He was accused of participating in a 2002 coup against his country's elected government.
He emphasized his humble origins whenever campaigning. While far from being a playboy, he wasn't exactly poverty stricken, either.
During the 2012 Election, he named Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva as his political role model, but Silva endorsed Chávez, instead.
Hugo Chavez specifically called him out in a 2012 campaign ad, ranting 'why do you hide, majunche, you have an ass of a pig, ears of a pig, you snore like a pig, you’re a pig you’re a pig!' (wait - was he trying to call him... 'a pig?')
Four organizations withdrew their support from his campaign after leaked documents revealed his economic policies' similarities to Chavez's.

Why he might not be annoying:

He has been the most forceful opponent of the pro-Chavez forces.
He has 5.2 million Twitter followers.
His maternal grandmother was interred in the Warsaw Ghetto.
His great-grand parents were also murdered by the Nazis in the Treblinka extermination camp.
He is a sitting member of the International Fiscal Association and the World Association of Young Jurors.
He was elected into Parliament at the age of 25, making him the youngest elected member in Venezuela (1998).
He was jailed without trial for four months after the 2002 coup's failure, before being acquitted of all charges.
He was subjected to anti-semitic slurs during his presidential campaign (Chavez specifically attacked his Jewish grandparents for their 'terrible heritage').
His house was surrounded by a Chavista mob chanting 'Nazi fascist' and spray-painting red Swastikas on his walls.
He called for the government to accelerate the peace process between Colombia's government and the FARC rebels.
He campaigned on moving Venezuela away from relations with Belarus and Iran.
He lost narrowly to Maduro, but openly rejected the results of the 2013 election, claiming irregularities and calling for a full audit of the election results (April 2013).
