Why she might be annoying:

She was pigeon-toed and took up dancing to correct her gait.
She was married and divorced twice.
She developed stage fright, quit acting and worked as a operator for telephone answering services.
She became dependent on Librium, Valium and alcohol.
Fellow child star Jackie Cooper announced plans to make a TV movie of her life (1985), which never came to fruition.

Why she might not be annoying:

Her draconian grandmother banned her from playing with other children, since she could fall and mar her skin, and cut her off from anyone who might be a bad influence, which even included her father.
Her mother, who had abandoned her as an infant, showed up once she was a star to claim a share of her earnings, setting off a bitter custody battle.
When she turned 21, she discovered that the trust fund that was supposed to hold her earnings contained less than $1,000. She suspected that her mother had managed to empty out the rest of the account.
In the late 70s, a friend wrote 'Dreams Deferred,' a play based on her life and asked her to play the central character.
The performance led to guest appearances on a number of 80s TV shows, including Simon & Simon, Cagney and Lacey and St. Elsewhere.
She said her revived career let her quit pills and alcohol cold turkey.
