He fathered a child, Matthew, with a woman he met at Hooters while still married to his high school sweetheart.
He divorced his wife to marry, Sharon Logonov.
He constantly has cold sores and fever blisters.
He chews tobacco.
He declines being a role model saying: 'From this day forward, I'm not going to be perfect. And neither is anybody else. Nobody knows what it's like to be me (2000).'

Why he might not be annoying:

He is the only major league 3rd baseman to have 6 consecutive 100 RBI seasons.
He takes care of his child that he fathered with the woman from Hooters.
He was the #1 overall draft pick in 1990.
His Turner Field 'at bat' theme song is 'Crazytrain' by Ozzy Osbourne.
After he said it was like walking on egg shells with John Rocker on the team, Rocker lashed out that 'Chip's white trash anyway. He's never had much respect for me, so I don't have much respect for him. [Jones is] as two-faced as they came. ... I never thought he was my pal.'
He was trained to be a shortstop but did not complain when he was converted to third baseman and even played left field when asked to.
He has a strong tie to his father and when in a batting slump, he goes to him for advice.
