    (1983- )
    Born in Los Angeles, California
    ‘Classic’ line-up (1987-92):
    Tracii Guns, lead guitar
    Phil Lewis, vocals
    Mick Cripps. Guitar
    Kelly Nickels, bass guitar
    Steve Riley, drums
Recorded the albums ‘L.A. Guns’ (1988), ‘Cocked & Loaded’ (1989), ‘Hollywood Vampires’ (1991), ‘Vicious Circle’ (1994), ‘American Hardcore’ (1996), ‘Waking the Dead’ (2002), ‘Hollywood Forever’ (2012), ‘The Missing Piece’ (2017), and ‘The Devil You Know’ (2019)
Recorded the singled ‘The Ballad of Jayne’ (1989), ‘Kiss My Love Goodbye’ (1991), and ‘It’s Over Now’ (1991)
The band underwent numerous line-up changes.
The most consistent member of the band was not – as you might expect from the name – Tracii Guns, but Steve Riley.
Lewis worked as a phone psychic during one of his stints out of the band.
For several years, Guns and Lewis were leading rival bands under the L.A. Guns name (2006-12).
Rock Star: Supernova runner-up Dilana was lead singer of Tracii Guns’ version of the band for 71 days (2011).
After Guns and Lewis reunited, Riley led his own version of L.A. Guns, resulting in Guns and Lewis suing him (2020).
They were one-hit wonders, with ‘The Ballad of Jayne’ their only Top 40 hit.
An early version of the band merged with Hollywood Rose to create Guns N’ Roses.
Rather appropriately, Guns N’ Roses’ Gilby Clarke produced two of their albums.
They opened tours for Skid Row, Poison, and Alice Cooper.
Billboard wrote, ‘When the members click… they can run with the best of the pack.’
