    Before getting into acting, he originally wanted to be a lawyer.
    He was supposed to play Lieutenant Boomer on 'Battlestar Galactica,' but he was replaced by Herb Jefferson, Jr. due to an ankle injury while rollerskating.
    As the news broke, he was mistook for a man of the same name who was involved in Suge Knight's hit-and-run incident (January 2015).
    He has been divorced once and married three times.
    He took a job as the first black TV newsman in the world in Boston.
    He speaks both Spanish and English.
    His first Broadway performace was with Eartha Kitt in the play 'Mrs. Patterson.'
    He has a degree in Communications from Northeastern University.
    He was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Informational Special for the documentary 'A Duke Named Ellington' (1985).
    He won an Emmy for 'Best Series for Children and Youth' for his creation of the TV miniseries 'K*I*D*S.'
