The Resume

    (May 5, 1930-June 29, 2007)
    Born in Chicago, Illinois
Science fiction author best known for his series Berserker, Lost Sword, Dracula, and Sword

Why he might be annoying:

Nothing he wrote was ever filmed.
He let people steal his ideas.
His quiet, unassuming personality may have kept him from becoming more well-known outside of hard core sci-fi circles.

Why he might not be annoying:

His Berserker series was written over decades and inspired the "Doomsday" episode of Star TOS, the "Borg" from Star Trek: TNG and the plot for Battlestar Galactica (1978).
He wrote his Dracula series, a sympathetic fictional autobiography of Dracula, years before Anne Rice got the same idea.
He wrote science and technical articles for Encyclopedia Britannica.
He was married to the same woman over forty years.
