Why he might be annoying
He sports an enormous afro.
He decided to forego his remaining three years of college eligibility to turn pro.
He was considered 'the consolation prize' for the Sabres, after the team didn't get to draft Connor McDavid.
As a child, his father would pull him out of school for skating sessions on the neighbourhood pond.
Why he might not be annoying
He was the first freshman player since Paul Kariya to win the Hobey Baker Award.
Although he grew up a fan of Boston College, he opted to attend Boston University as he felt it was better suited for his development as a player.
He endeared himself to Sabres fans in wake of the team not getting the first overall pick, saying he would embrace the opportunity of playing for their team.
He is the youngest player in Sabres history to score a goal in his first NHL game.
He was considered one of the best American prospects in close to thirty years at the time of his draft billing.
