    Recorded the single 'Just the Two of Us' with Bill Withers (1981)

    He played at blues and jazz clubs when he was underage.
    'Just the Two of Us' was the only one of his songs to cross over to the pop Top 40.
    His 'smooth jazz' paved the way for the likes of Kenny G.

    He won Grammys for Best R&B Song ('Just the Two of Us') and Best Jazz Fusion Performance ('Winelight').
    He frequently performed the national anthem at Philadelphia 76ers games and dedicated the song 'Let It Flow' to Julius Erving.
    He played with Bill Clinton at a White House concert celebrating jazz (1993).
    He said, 'I want to be able to visit any genre and converse there with my horn.'
    He died of a heart attack in the green room of CBS Studios after taping four songs for 'The Saturday Early Show.'
