Producer

The Resume

    (June 6, 1934-October 31, 2011)
Born in New York, New York
    Producer and director
President of the Directors Guild of America (1983-1987)
Frequent producer of Academy Awards ceremonies

Why he might be annoying:

He is only known for producing Oscar ceremonies.
Instead of letting songwriter Jorge Drexler perform the nominated song 'Al Otro Lado del Rio', he chose Antonio Banderas and Carlos Santana to perform the song for ratings purposes.
He planned to dwindle down the 80th Academy Awards to a star-less clip show of previous ceremonies in the event the WGA strike still persisted.
He forgot to put clips of previous hosts Whoopi Goldberg and Steve Martin in a montage saluting past Oscar moments. This pissed off Goldeberg during a conversation on the show 'The View'.
In an effort to shorten the ceremony, he made the nominees of technical awards stand on stage (2003) or hand the award out in the audience (2004) over letting the winners come up and receive the award.

Why he might not be annoying:

As of 2008, he has produced more Oscar ceremonies than anyone else.
He has won several Emmys for his work.
His bargaining between the DGA and the AMPTP was used as a model to end the WGA strike.
He is the uncle of actress Phoebe Cates.
